I’m at tubbies as it helps me alot mentally. I suffered a lot of trauma in my childhood/teenage years as I’ve shared in the group on facebook before. I have social anxiety and its pretty bad I struggle with things most people see as simple such as going to a shop or things like that. So I’ve always loved football but struggled with being in a team due to the anxiety side. With tubbies everyone has their own problems and I feel like everyone gets a lot of help from being in this project. I’m no different I love being part of a great bunch of lads and I think the project is the best around to help me with my mental health, also the mind your tubbies helps me alot too. Listening to others sharing their stories is inspiring and makes me proud to be part of tubbies.👍

I joined tubby fc because I had a idea of a team where lads that were suffering from real weight issues/mental health issues and love the game of football but have been put off because of how they feel in there own mind and body’s.
What better way than a team made up of lads that are all in that boat. This idea not only tackled the lads confidence of getting back out there and playing but also tackles some mental issues by giving them a outlet on the pitch to get rid of them thoughts and feeling for a few hours.
All round it was meant to help mind and body by playing the beautiful game.
To be honest I planned on taking this idea around any person that would listen and wouldn’t stop until someone did. Luckily for me I saved a lot of time as the first person I asked (wammo) happened to love the idea as much as me and with his help the project was created.
I’m grateful for what this project is now and seeing what some of the lads have wrote hopefully inspires more tubbies to get involved and try take back control of their own lives and feelings. #upthetubbies

The reasons I joined tubby fc is because being my wife’s carer can be very hard at times and I didn’t realise I neglected myself a little bit along the way . I thought it would be nice to join a team and try and make some friendships and build my confidence and improve my mental health and to lose a couple of stone I had piled on through lockdown
Things I get out of being a part of tubby fc / this group has helped me so much to make friends with some amazing men having a laugh and finding my confidence again. I’ve lost weight every week and it gives me something to look forward to every week which helps my mental health gives me focus . The men encourage each other and no one is left out and that’s a great feeling to be part of that,I’m so proud to say I’m in this team
My wife is my whole world and I would do anything at all for her as I care for her 24/7 but having this team / group of friends to go to a couple times a week talk to through social media has made me feel not alone anymore and something for me again.

Joined tubbies in order improve my health and mental health as I could see the fantastic work already going on. Also to regularly meet up with lads going through similar things to me and to offer what help I can. Only starred 2 weeks ago but already enjoying it and doing me a world of good getting out and exercising regularly and being part of a team.
